River Systems ET Technical Help

I don’t think the egg turning is working on my River Systems incubator.

If you don’t think the egg turning function is working on your River System Incubator, there are 3 things to check:

1. Is there power to the motor? Place your hand or ear to the turning motor and you should be able to hear/feel a very slight humming or buzzing.

- If you can hear or feel a humming or buzzing, then this is good news! There is power to the motor and the motor is working.

2. Is the turning key clipped correctly into the egg carrier?

- There is a silver key coming out of your turning motor which the the egg carrier clips into. Ensure that the carrier isn’t just resting on the key, and that the key is fully pushed in.

3. Are all the egg carriers correctly in place?

- Push the egg carriers. If they move freely then something isn’t in the right place. Either the carriers are not correctly positioned or the key is not pushed far enough into the carrier. If, however, the carriers don’t move when pushed, then everything is in correctly in place.

Please note: the turning motor moves very slowly. It will take 30-45 minutes for the eggs to be tilted one way. Once tilted one way, it will then take 30-45 minutes for the eggs to be turned back to the middle and tilted the other way.

My turning motor is noisy. Is this normal?

Yes, it is completely normal for the turning motor to sound noisy. All motors make a noise and as the ET turning motor is continuously turning, it makes continual noise. Over time it can seem louder - or quieter - as you get used to the sound.

If the sound changes, please check the following 3 things:

  1. Check the turning key is clipped correctly into the egg carrier.

- There is a silver key coming out of your turning motor that the egg carrier clips into. Ensure the carrier isn’t just resting on the key, but is fully pushed in .

  1. Check that all the egg carriers are correctly in place.

- Push the egg carriers. If they move freely, then something isn’t in the correct place. Either the carriers are not positioned correctly or the key is not pushed far enough into the carrier. If the carriers don’t move when pushed, then everything is in correctly in place.

  1. Ensure the turning key is not rubbing on the base. If it is rubbing on the base, check that the screws holding the motor in place are nice and tight and, if necessary, turn off the motor, remove it from the machine and then refit the motor.
